Learning for Life adn Work Book 1

Learning for Life and Work is a three-book course which is designed to support teaching and learning of the new Learning for Life and Work Key Stage 3 Northern Ireland curriculum. Books 1, 2 and 3 are intended for Years 8, 9 and 10 respectively and each book:

  • Integrates the three areas of Personal Development, Local and Global Citizenship and Education for Employability in a book per year of the Key Stage
  • Engages learners through an active learning approach to the key themes
  • Features opportunities for personal reflection and assessment for learning
  • Includes a wide variety of activities, designed to develop the whole curriculum skills and capabilities required

Course Information:

The first book in this new series is designed to build upon some of the key areas of study of the Learning for Life and Work Curriculum in a fun, engaging and varied way. Organised into the three main sections of Personal Development, Local and Global Citizenship and Education for Employability, some of the questions it asks students to explore include:

  • What is the point of relationships?
  • What are my values and where do they come from?
  • Why do we need to protect human rights?
  • What is identity?
  • What are the skills and qualities needed for work?
  • What are transferable skills?
